RAILEX BUXTON saw railway modelling return to the town in July of 2022 after a long absence. It has quickly become a staple show in both regional and national exhibition calenders. Presenting over 100 stands including working layouts, Society and clubs displays, modelling demonstrations and opportunities to have a go at various skills, manufacturers, publishers, model retailers and specialists suppliers.

OURSELVES

The show is presented by the ‘the freinds of Railex Buxton’. A volunteer team who come from across the region and wider UK bringing a wealth of experience in building and exhibiting model railways.

OUR AIMS

We endeavor to expand the awareness and access of our interest further, by staging our event in the expansive and welcoming public visitor attraction of Buxton’s Pavilion Gardens. By making our show as inviting and enjoyable as possible; we hope that those who have yet to discover the fascinating and enduring pastime, and indeed art form, that is railway modelling, may find it as enthralling as we do.

We ask, young and old, experienced or not, to allow us to entertain and hopefully inspire you for a few hours. Either as part of a wider visit to Buxton or specifically to attend for a longer period, we are confident that you’ll be pleased you took the time to attend our event.

VENUE

We are pleased to announce that whilst remaining at the Pavilion Gardens the show will be expanding in 2026 by up to 50% in size.

The Octagon with its tall glass walls and central ring of columns makes for an unique setting.
The adjacent Octagon lounge is a simpler but light and airy room.
New for 26 the Pavillion Arts Centre is a state if the art multi use space equipped with a bar reception area, 2 stages and hall space fitted with the latest lighting and sound control. Which is easily converted into a large open room ideal for presenting model railways.
The linking corridor for the three rooms. To the left is the Arts Centre and at the bottom of the stairs on the right is the Octagon Lounge and Octagon. There is also a lift to the right here connecting the two levels.
Stepping back a few feet from the previous image places us on St John’s Road outside the main entrance. Which has an adjacent bus stop and is a short walk from the railway station, town centre and car parking.
